What is Tense ?

Ans :- In grammar, "tense" refers to the form of a verb that indicates the time of the action or state it describes. Tense helps to situate actions or states in time, making it clear whether something happened in the past, is happening in the present, or will happen in the future.

 Tense এর বাংলা হল ক্রিয়ার কাল। কোন কাজ সংঘটিত হওয়ার সময় কে Tense বলে ।

Types of Tense :- There are three primary tenses in English:

1.     Past Tense: Indicates that an action or state occurred before the present moment. For example, "She walked to the store."

2.     Present Tense: Indicates that an action or state is currently happening or is generally true. For example, "She walks to the store."

3.     Future Tense: Indicates that an action or state will occur after the present moment. For example, "She will walk to the store." .

 

Tense কয় প্রকার ও কি কি ?

1.    Past Tense ( অতীত কাল )

2.    Present Tense ( বর্তমান কাল )

3.    Future Tense ( ভবিষ্যৎ কাল )

Each of these tenses can be further divided into different aspects, which provide additional details about the timing and nature of the action or state. The main aspects are:

1.     Simple ( সাধারণ ): Describes a general fact or a habitual action.

·         Past: "She walked."

·         Present: "She walks."

·         Future: "She will walk."

2.     Continuous ( ঘটমান ) (Progressive): Describes an ongoing action that is happening at a specific time.

·         Past Continuous: "She was walking."

·         Present Continuous: "She is walking."

·         Future Continuous: "She will be walking."

3.     Perfect ( পুরাঘটিত ): Describes a completed action that has relevance to another point in time.

·         Past Perfect: "She had walked."

·         Present Perfect: "She has walked."

·         Future Perfect: "She will have walked."

4.     Perfect Continuous ( পুরাঘটিত ঘটমান ): Describes an ongoing action that was happening up to a certain point in time and may still be continuing.

·         Past Perfect Continuous: "She had been walking."

·         Present Perfect Continuous: "She has been walking."

·         Future Perfect Continuous: "She will have been walking."

Understanding and correctly using tenses is crucial for clear and effective communication, as it helps convey the timing and nature of actions and events accurately.
